Technology Integration

The Metric Velocity Based Training (VBT) App provides real-time feedback in strength training, allowing athletes and coaches to track performance and make instant adjustments. By measuring lifting speed and power, it helps optimize load and intensity for each session, enhancing training effectiveness and reducing injury risk. We particularly utilize this app during a student-athlete’s first and maybe second year of strength training because it highlights the path of the bar. While there are ideal paths, we’re also developing athletes not power lifters, thus we are focused on consistency in the path of the bar. This app is utilized more in our building for immediate feedback as opposed to personalized training days like other applications.

We utilize Vitruve fitness for our student-athletes in order to offer more personalized training data that enhances body awareness and strength progression for our more advanced lifters. Through precise tracking of the different types of strength, it helps athletes set and achieve tailored fitness goals for each day. This real-time feedback promotes optimal performance while reducing the risk of injury by ensuring exercises are performed in safe, effective intensity zones. For our athletes, Vitruve’s individualized approach fosters motivation, boosts confidence, and supports targeted develoipment, making strength gains measurable and progress consistent across various athletic skills.

Using Excel for tracking strength goals offers coaches a clear, long-term view of individual and team progress, enabling them to identify trends and tailor training more effectively. Unlike immediate feedback from various VBT apps, Excel data is a visual for coaches to see an extended period of tracking, grouping athletes by sport, position, or age to assess specific needs. Coaches can compare individuals against team averages, helping pinpoint areas for targeted improvement. This organized data helps in creating customized programs for varied groups, supporting consistent growth, and ensuring that training remains aligned with athletes’ developmental stages and performance goals.
